Fashion - Product Perfect CD (2008, UK/US, new wave)
Sunday, November 23, 2008, 11:38 AM - Music, - UK, - US, English
In an old post I gave up hope to ever get the first fashion lp on cd. To my surprise Luke James, the singer of the band, mailed me a couple of weeks ago that he was releasing this cd.

There are different (single?) versions of Fashion and Bike Boys on the cd.
You can buy it from his MySpace page http://www.myspace.com/fashionlukesky for only $10 + $2,50 p&p.
He lives in California now, the lucky bastard.

1 Product Perfect [3:51]
2 Die in the West [4:13]
3 Red, Green & Gold [4:49]
4 Burning Down [3:33]
5 Big John [2:01]
6 Hanoi Annoys Me [2:56]
7 The Innocent [2:30]
8 Citinite [5:22]
9 Fashion [2:53]
10 Don't Touch Me [2:59]
11 Bike Boys [5:27]
12 Technofascist [3:39]

A rare tracks cd has soon to be followed, as a cd with brand new songs will.

Ryuichi Sakamoto featuring Thomas Dolby - Field Work (1985, JP/UK, electronic)
Thursday, October 25, 2007, 11:04 PM - Music, - JP, - UK, English
Quite a catchy song done by Ryuichi Sakamoto in cooperation with Thomas Dolby.
The back side contains fifteen minutes of out of sync / random synth loops: Ryuichi's machines solo. It is used in the Field Work clip as background music at the beginning and the end.

1 Field Work [6:00]
2 Exhibition [15:29]

Rema-Rema - Wheel in the Roses (1980, UK, new wave)
Wednesday, October 17, 2007, 11:36 PM - Music, - UK, English
The band consisted of Gary Asquith (guitar/vocals), Marco Pirroni (guitar), Mick Allen (bass/vocals), Mark Cox (keyboards) and Max (drums). Their sole EP, Wheel In The Roses, featured one side of studio recordings and another of live material. Their songs "Fond Affections" and "Rema-Rema" were later covered by This Mortal Coil and Big Black respectively.

Rema-Rema split up shortly after the EP's release in April 1980. Pirroni later hit the big time with Adam And The Ants. Asquith, Allen and Cox formed the short-lived Mass with Danny Briottet. Asquith then moved on to Renegade Soundwave, while Cox and Allen stayed with 4AD as part of The Wolfgang Press.

Drummer Max Prior went on to form El Trains (with Jay Strongman) and worked with Genesis P Orridge and Industrial Records as a solo artist under her real name (Dorothy), eventually joining Psychic TV full time.

Another Absurd Record (1979, UK, new wave/weird) Re-upload
Sunday, July 22, 2007, 12:27 PM - Music, - UK, English
A re-upload, but the original post was not mine. It was on Mein Walkman Ist Kaputt, but something happened there, not only his walkman, but all the older posts are kaputt. Zakey asked me if I could post those files. Of course, your demand is my service. And I included both sides of Gerry + the Holograms (an older post of mine) and 48 chairs (also a download from Mein Walkman Ist Kaputt, I think) in it.

Blah Blah Blah - In The Army
Eddie Fiction - UFO 2
48 Chairs - Snap It Around
48 Chairs - Psycle Sluts
Gerry + the Holograms - Gerry + the Holograms
Gerry + the Holograms - Increased Resistance
Mothmen - Does It Matter Irene?
Cairo - I Like Bluebeat (version)
Naafi Sandwich - Slice Two

On WFMU you can find both sides of the Blah Blah Blah single.

Clock DVA - Pandora's Music Box 1983 (UK, new wave)
Tuesday, July 17, 2007, 06:09 PM - Music, - UK, English
Clock DVA was a group from Sheffield in different lineups around Adi Newton (vocals, electronics).
The name was inspired by the Russian-influenced Nadsat of Anthony Burgess' A Clockwork Orange. Dva is the Russian word for two.
