Reporters Without Borders strongly condemned the four-year prison sentence imposed today by a court in Alexandria on Abdel Kareem Nabil Suleiman for “inciting hatred of Islam” and insulting President Hosni Mubarak in his blog, for which he used the pseudonym of “Kareem Amer.”
“This sentence is a disgrace,” the press freedom organisation said. “Almost three years ago to the day, President Mubarak promised to abolish prison sentences for press offences. Suleiman’s conviction and sentence is a message of intimidation to the rest of the Egyptian blogosphere, which had emerged in recent years as an effective bulwark against the regime’s authoritarian excesses.”

According to Wikipedia this is a multisided record. Strange name, it is only playable on one side, but it has at least seven grooves. Each groove has it's own version of the same song. They all start the same but the ends are different. Which version you hear depends on where the stylus of your turntable starts. The flexi disc was included in an American edition of Mad magazine in 1980. I digitised the seven versions of the song I could discover on this record.

You can say that!
I mentioned in my post of Chris and Cosey that I played in the basement of Paradiso.
Some recordings are made, and you can listen to them on YouTube at your own risk.
If you think my web radio is vague, try this.
It was a 'headphone concert'. We played in the bar, but you could only hear us when you put on a headphone. Brilliant idea, most of the time I find live music in bars very annoying and too loud.
Ate M Hes was also playing with us, it's worth while watching his videos on YouTube.

Something strange happened to this Simple PHP Blog system.
I cannot choose November as entry month (???).
Have to find out what it is.
Till that time no posts.
Solved half an hour later.
Luckily PHP programming is my daily job.
The error happened today: October 31.
No months were shown with less than 31 days.
So it had something to do with the algorithm to make the timestamp in scripts/sb_texteditor.php line 413:
If
I changed it in
And now it works.
The posts will continue.

So it had something to do with the algorithm to make the timestamp in scripts/sb_texteditor.php line 413:
$timestamp = mktime(0, 0, 0, $i, date('d'), date('Y'));
If
date('d')
is 31, an incorrect timestamp is produced when $i
is 2,4,6,9 or 11.I changed it in
$timestamp = mktime(0, 0, 0, $i, 1, date('Y'));
And now it works.
date('d')
is anyway useless if you only want to make a month drop down (and so is date('Y')
).The posts will continue.
How careless can one be?
In April 2006 there was an exhibition of Maarten Ploeg's work that he gave to friends. They asked me too, but I couldn't remember Maarten ever gave me one of his works.
And now, between all kind of boxes, I saw a red map with this inside.
In the catalogue of the exhibition, I saw that he gave the same computer print 'self-portrait' to Arnold Weel in 1992. I got mine in 1996 on my birthday.
I am careless, but he was too: he misspelled my initials.
Here is a photo of Maarten after he fell from his bike on the way buying champaign in honour of the birth of his brothers first child.
