In case you wonder: this is not about Frans Bauer, but the Amsterdam pop duo Bauer.
And remember: Bauer live November 14th in Amsterdam, 18th in Den Bosch.
I'll be there all three times.

This is my first lp. I got it with my first record player.
It was a mono player, but we discovered that Philips mounted a ceramic stereo cartridge in it.
So we soldered two extra wires on the cartridge and led them to the auxiliary input of my transistor radio and we had stereo!
We did that with a couple of friends, all of us had a cheap Philips mono player with the same cartridge.
On this lp all, for that time, well known dutch bands who played in pop/rock/blues style. I think, looking back, Rob Hoeke r&b group was highly underrated, notice the bass player and singer. They had the wrong name...
Side one:
1 Ekseption - The 5th
2 Cuby & Blizzards - Window of my eyes
3 Oscar Benton blues band - I feel so good
4 The Rob Hoeke r&b group - Don't feel ashamed
5 De Bintangs - It's all over now
6 The Motions - Eliza
Side two:
1 Cuby & Blizzards - Checkin' up on my baby
2 Oscar Benton blues band - Heartaching bkues
3 The Rob Hoeke r&b group - Lying in the grass
4 De Bintangs - Blues on the ceiling
5 The Motions - Freedom
6 Ekseption - Sabre dance

This is a late appearance of Group 1850 on Dutch television.
I don't think the Group really existed at that time. It is Peter Sjardin who is playbacking, but the rest are invited friends I suppose.
Van Oekel's Discohoek was a persiflage on other popular music programs, presented by Sjef van Oekel, who couldn't learn a single line by heart. Therefor he always hold papers with the text in his hand. The writer of the show, Wim T Schippers, exploited this: if Sjef anyway had to read his text from paper, why care for easy to remember lines? So there was no limit in the absurdness of the script.
Group 1850 was not so popular in the Netherlands, I remember a concert where there were not even 10 paying visitors. Instead of doing their normal show they invited the audience on the stage to play with them. I didn't dare...

Although the single 'Song of the Second Moon' is from 1957 (!) this lp was released in 1967 in Europe. My version has the titles of the USA release of 1968. Dick Raaijmakers who worked as engineer at the Philips NatLab may not use his real name, because he was just a Philips employee, so he used the reverse of his nickname natlaB diK: Kid Baltan.
He and Tom Dissevelt really were electronic pioneers, they did everything with tone generators and tapes, no keyboards were used.
A lot of their work is released on a Basta 4cd box, a beautiful box with lots of information. The complete tape music of Dick Raaijmakers is also available on Basta.
Side one:
1 Song of the Second Moon (KB 1957) [2:49]
2 Moon Maid (TD 1959 orig.title: Drifting) [3:10]
3 The Ray Makers (KB 1960 orig.title: Mechanical Motions) [7:18]
4 The Visitor from Inner Space (TD 1959 orig.title: Vibration) [3:05]
Side two:
1 Sonik Re-Entry (TD 1958 orig.title: Whirling) [2:33]
2 Orbit Aurora (TD 1958 orig.title: Syncopation) [2:58]
3 Twilight Ozone (TD 1961 orig.title: Intersection) [5:24]
4 Pianoforte (KB 1960) [4:55]

The first 10 years P.A.R.K.4DTV broadcasts started with a leader made by Maarten Ploeg. It was completely made on the Amiga in Amos (with that programming language you could easily exploit all the audio and video capacities of the Amiga).
In 1993 we made a record of the tune, it was very difficult to find a company that still could make vinyl singles. Maarten used 'Aktien Gesellschaft A.G.' as alias.
Nowadays the P.A.R.K. leader tune is made by Berend Dubbe of Bauer and Persijn Broersen made the visuals.
Bauer also performed the 18th of November 2006 in the Verkadefabriek in Den Bosch with a small ensemble. Go see it if you can!

There are two kinds of Soviet Sex, one with drum machine from 1981 and one with Ellen ten Damme, 1997.
In this post I included one song from a 'Vinyl flexi' (1981, electronic) and two songs from a cd single (1997, punk rock). With a voting campaign, we got that in the Tros Top 50.
Soviet Sex 1981
Soviet Sex 1997
In both versions Maarten Ploeg was the main song writer and singer of the band, his brother Rogier played guitar and Peter Klashorst bass.
Maarten was also member of PARK 4DTV and the first years it was his signature tune that was used (see tomorrows post).

Another self made cd with old live recordings of a dutch band.
Abroad not so well known Solution did a reunion concert this year.
They only played 1 1/2 songs of their first lp, the best one.
Here are 1 3/4 numbers of the first and two good ones of the second lp. Fever is not live, it is from the second lp and was left out on the cd re-issue.
Divergence is more well known in the version of Focus, called Tommy after the writer and sax player Tom Barlage.
Koan, though credited to Solution on their lp, is mainly The Koan of Big Jim Sullivan (alias Lord Sitar), available on his Sitar Beat cd. Pentangle also recorded it, available on the self titled cd as a bonus track.
1 Divergence [5:41]
2 Koan [9:28]
3 Trane Steps [7:59]
4 Fever [4:08]
